Now is the time to break out the sunglasses and dig the summer clothes out of the wardrobe. Women’s shoes can be a mine field; what exactly should we be wearing this season?
Well, one trend which every woman can pull off with ease is the jewel clothes we have seen all over the fashion press. A brightly coloured pair of wedges or heels will add an interesting twist to any outfit. The bright colours we see on the high street have of course been inspired by the high end designers. Jil Sander brought back jewel colours in a big way with her colour blocked collection. Red, blue and purple are a great colour combination if you are stuck on where to start.
Flats have been making a big come back which may be a relief to many women out there who cannot stand the towering heels with have seen all over the high street. If you want to be at the forefront when it comes to flats you need to grab yourself a pair of espadrilles. The epitome of spring style is a pair of espadrilles, chinos and a slouchy t-shirt. You can still look chic without having to make too much effort, which let’s face it you can’t really be bothered to make any when the sun is blazing. This is the perfect outfit for those lazy days at the park or a day by the sea.
If you are looking for something with a bit of height you might want to opt for a killer pair of heels. Designers created weird and wonderful shoes; for example those seen at Alexander McQueen. Structural heels are big for Spring/Summer and the good thing is you can dress them up or down. Team them palazzo pants to balance out the length; neutral colours look best together for this look and a sheer chiffon blouse will complete the look for style with a romantic edge. If this doesn’t sound like your thing you can team them with a pair of cut off denim shorts and a band t shirt for the rock ’n ’roll vibe.
Another trend which isn’t going away is the maxi dress and despite what some people think there is a style out there to suit everyone. To really play up this look for the summer add a skinny belt around your waist and add an arm full of bangles. Maxi dresses look best teamed up with sandals from summer; there are plenty of styles out there to choose from.
The gladiator trend is still going strong this year; however it has been brought up to date. Instead of sticking to neutral colours and earthy tones we see bursts of orange and blue. You can match your accessories to your footwear, a pair of drop earrings or even a slick of coral lipstick would finish off your outfit. No matter what trends you decide to follow this Spring/Summer don’t forget to have fun with fashion and remember there are no real rules.
